The action is gripping enough, but Michael Vartan is forever contractually obligated to play Michael Vartan - the handsome, oblivious beau with a gracious smile and twinkling eyes.

It has its moments, that's for sure, but it's just boring most of the time. The main problem is that a lot of the film is dedicated toward building sympathy toward a character that's largely unsympathetic.
Yes, you feel bad for her at the beginning of the film, but her character never develops in a positive direction, as you would expect; in fact, she becomes even more unsympathetic and more brutal as the film goes on.
So all of these moments that are intended to make the viewer get behind the character any sequences with her boyfriend or uncle become huge wastes of screen time.
Everything runs a little bit too smooth, coincidences pile up and the action just seems interchangeable here and there.
Only one action scene actually conveys an immediate tension through its directness, the rest is ironed out and is only intended….

But really There really can only be one La Femme Nikita and Colombiana does not even come close to measuring up.
And wasting such good talent is just a travesty if not down right criminal. I had wanted to see it in the theater but thought it was in Spanish I do not speak Spanish so I passed on it.
I watched it on TV and was amazed and watched it again to tape it. I did not know that Luc Besson was involved in it always a good sign.
It was kind of like "Taken" with a female lead, but also my favorite plot, too the protagonist loses everything and lashes out in blind hatred with revenge.

I don't actually know what to say about this. Colombiana was neither amazing nor terrible. Zoe Saldana was a kick arse assassin and her younger self was very cool.
Lots of shooting, humans getting dominated by animals and good old fashioned revenge. Not bad :- enjoyable at least. Film 73 of the June Challenge I will champion any film that puts a kick-ass black female in the lead role, but Colombiana tried everything it could to convince me I should give that up.
Mucho parkour, muchas coincidencias, muchos acentos raros, 0 sentido. Watched on Netflix "Colombiana" could have been the female equivalent of "Taken" With leading actress Zoe Saldana, the right woman was cast for the job, blessed with incredible acting talent.
