RIDDICK Bande Annonce VFThis is one of my favorite all time movies, the opening scene gets your heart pounding and it just doesn't stop: almost non-stop action from there on out.
Costume, set design, all top notch and the acting is excellent too! If you think about the plot, it gets a little sad, be like his character, stick to action.
Also, somehow, the movie is composed almost entirely of excellent one-liners. Must be Vin Diesel's excellent, yet under-appreciated, acting. Truly amazing.
The action really does distract away from his acting, so Mr. Diesel, there are those of us that do appreciate both your ability in your stunts, who enjoy your material, who do also appreciate that it does distract, but without the excellent acting, the stunts are just stunts.
The entire movie, however, is moving poetry. Thandie Newton nearly steals the show from him. The Purifier is mysterious and sad and one of the best death scenes ever.
The set design is truly other wordly and the first time I saw the Lord Marshall and he removed his face covering I nearly fainted! So creepy! This is one of the best done movies ever.
Congrats to David Twohy and thanks for making this movie. Anyone who likes sci fi should watch this! It is 5 years following the adventure in Pitch Black and Riddick finds himself up against the Lord Marshall and his army of Necromongers who seek to convert or kill mankind.

I have loved the Riddick movies since Pitch Black. Vin Diesel does a terrific job in his portrayal of the character and is supported by an excellent cast including Judi Dench, Karl Urban and Colm Feore.
The special effects are outstanding as is the stunts and choreography of the fight scenes. The only issue I had was with the DVD itself.
When playing in my Panasonic DVD player, it will only play with the audio commentary on rather annoying. This occurred in both Convert and Fight option.
I found no way to turn this off. The only way I could watch the movie without commentary was playing it on my XBox See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries.
Okay, first to clear something up. This is the approx. This one takes place 5 years on from "Pitch Black". I won't reveal the plot in case you haven't seen it, but this is a fast-paced and highly stylish follow-up.
Also, it got a 15 certificate, so important to Hollywood studios and that shows, compared to PB. Diesel is perfect as the anti-hero good-guy, Richard B Riddick, descendant of a thought to be extinct warrior race, taking on bounty hunters and a dark religious force, enslaving planets.
Is it better than the original? Well, personally, I thought it was about as enjoyable, for slightly different reasons.
Diesel seems more confident in the role here than in the first and the set pieces give him a chance to show off his character's fighting talents far more.
I didn't think the CGI was overdone either. Riddick's character is far less ambiguous than in the first film and I don't think "chronicles" quite has the menace or sense of danger of the original, nor, the originality, having already introduced the character in the earlier movie, but overall, I really enjoyed it.
I like the film overall, although it was not quite as good as Pitch Black, but for me it was entertaining.
The main gripe here is the fact that the product is not as advertised when sold. This is not the 'Directors Cut' as shown in both images.
What I received was a 'Limited Edition' version with a cardboard sleeve and different cover graphics etc. The images need to be changed as they does not match the title.
I happen to notice a prior review that was dating back more than 2 years ago highlighting the same issue regarding the Directors Cut, so it is clear that nothing has been done to correct the false advertising since then.
I love the trilogy of movies now retitled the 'Chronicles of Riddick' Especially I love the second movie. I had a DVD of this movie which had years of watching and was beginning, like my hair, to thin around the edges.
But when I look for a replacement I could not believe their was an extended unseen version available on Blu-Ray. This is a far more superior version that fills in story gaps from the theatrical cut.
The picture and sound quality ore great on my System. Having just bought the most recent film in the trilogy simply called Riddick I felt it was long overdue to upgrade the rest of the films in this franchise to Blu-ray.
When I found out that there was going to be a sequel to Pitch Black , I couldn't be happier. Even better , both Vin Diesel and director David Twohy were back in the saddle , so how could it possibly go wrong?
For me , absolutely nothing! It was excellent! Don't get me wrong , I'll take toothy monsters over an invading army any day , but I'm glad they didn't just rehash the same story as Pitch Black by using any excuse for Riddick to see in the dark , which was barely touched on in this film and the only thing that bothered me about this was the PG rating it got compared to the R-rated Pitch Black , so you knew it was going to be a softer affair.
Even though the third instalment isn't a complete rip off of the first one , there is a lot of elements from it that doesn't quite make that film original Still , very enjoyable enough for me to buy it , although I did hope that bounty hunter ,Toombs played by Nick Chinlund would have returned or had some kind of spin off movie of his own as I found him quite an enjoyable character As slimy as he was.
Visually this Blu-ray is superb , flawless , excellent , absolutely top notch and couldn't be happier with the picture quality.
The same can be said for the 5. There is a picture-in-picture behind the scenes feature that you now get along with a couple of other additions U-Control for e.
I have read the book which is amazing and have the film! This is my second copy as the first copy i bought from about 8 years ago has given up the ghost!
This is classic Vin Diesel at this best! Better than pitch black and Riddick put together in my opinion. The film may not elaborate on as many aspects as the book but it is as near as dammit!
